Hours: By appointment only. No walk-ins accepted.
Tuesday through Thursday 9am – 5:30pm (final appointment starts at 4pm)
Fridays 9am – 1pm.
Mondays are reserved for couple intensives.

I encourage all new clients to talk with me in a brief (15 minute) phone consultation before we schedule our first meeting. This call is an opportunity for me to understand your goals, and for you to ask questions.  There is no cost or obligation for a phone consultation. 

Phone consultations are usually scheduled between noon and 2pm, but please let me know if you need an alternate time. Send me a message to set up a consultation.

Driving Directions

Travel time:

from Barrie/Orillia:  30 minutes

from GTA: 90 minutes from 400/401 interchange

from Sudbury:  2.5 hours from 17/69 interchange

from Muskoka: 75 minutes from 11/118 interchange

County Road 93 is exit 121 on Hwy 400. Drive north approximately 20 minutes to the intersection of County Rd 93 and Balm Beach Road.

Parking

My office is located in the “Full Line Electronics” building. Access to the parking lot is at the rear of the property via Sundowner Road.

Driving north on County Rd. 93, turn left onto Balm Beach Road.

Take an immediate  (<50 m) right onto Sundowner Road.

Take the first right (100 m) onto Reid Crt which leads into the parking lot for the building.

Office Directions

Enter the building via the glass stairwell near the entrance to the electronics store. Offices are on the upper level via stairs or elevator. The elevator operates on a key system, so if you require access, please let me know in advance so I can unlock it.

When you arrive, please have a seat in the waiting room.  A unisex washroom is available in the hall immediately outside my waiting room. At your appointment time, you will be invited into the counselling office.

Forms

Each person attending the session is required to complete my standard intake forms before we meet. This includes your consent to adhere to the Conditions of Service. Please take the time to read the full Conditions of Service document. I want you to understand your rights and responsibilities before we begin.

The intake forms are completed and signed electronically – you do not need to print anything out. You will have received a link to the forms in your confirmation email. Please check your junk/spam folder if you don’t see this message in your inbox, as some systems will flag the message.

The most important question on the form, and also the most challenging, is “what is your goal for therapy?” Your answer will help me tailor therapy to your needs to make the best use of your time and budget.

 

Fees

Fees are collected at the beginning of the session, to get the business part of our meeting out of the way. I can accept cash, cheques or credit cards, but not debit/Interac. You may also pay via e-mail transfer through online banking. Please use my main email (jennifer@gbrc.ca) for e-transfers. No security question is required. In all cases, you will get a receipt suitable for insurance or income tax at the session. ​

Please note that all clients are required to provide a valid credit card that will be kept on file for missed/cancelled sessions. You may pay for ongoing appointments using whatever method you prefer, but please bring your card to our first meeting to complete your file.

 

What to expect

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. We will discuss your concerns and explore how counselling could be helpful to address those concerns.

All questions are optional. You can provide as much or as little detail as you desire. Of course, your honesty and openness will help us make faster progress. If you would like to proceed, we will decide together how often to meet and what issues you will work on.

This first session is also a chance for you to assess the ‘fit’ between us. People vary, so it is normal and expected that my style and approach will not work for everyone. If you don’t feel that I am the best fit for you, please let me know. I will be happy to suggest other colleagues who might be more helpful. I want you to get the help you need.
